The five decade journey of Satyakam kannada daily was proverbial rollercoaster of highs and lows. Mr.Panchappa .M.Mannur though coming from a humble family background from Vijayapura district, his economic conditions did not deter him from converting his passion towards journalism into a professional.
Mr Mannur established Satyakam kannada daily in 1970. Beating all the odds, the veteran journalist has successfully completed 53 years of his journey as a chief editor of Satyakam daily.
It was Mr.P.M.Mannur’s indomitable spirit that not only kept the newspaper going for more than five decades successfully but also gave him the strength to actively oversee its functioning.
When there were very just couple of Newspapers in the 70s, the SATYAKAM kannada daily, became as a catalyst in the inclusive growth of the society, the Satyakam itself was more of a mission than a newspaper in this backward region of Kalyana Karnataka.
Mr.Mannur with his sharp writings, exposed the many foibles in administrative, political, and social system. His investigative works series has made headlines many a time.Satyakam became a people’s front in the truest sense; it took up the cause of the common man.
The septegenarian Journalist was conferred with many awards and honors including the prestigious Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and Karnataka Media Academy Award.
